Acknowledging that he would have preferred a different candidate winning the nomination, Gov. Sam Brownback told a group of conservatives in Johnson County Tuesday that they should get behind Donald Trump in November’s general election.
“I’m voting for Trump…the last thing I want is Hillary Clinton naming (late Supreme Court Justice) Antonin Scalia’s replacement,” Brownback said. “Donald Trump wasn’t my first pick, but the primary is over.”
The next president could have the ability to nominate a number of court justices, with Scalia’s seat still open, and widespread speculation that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg may retire in the coming years.
